Privacy Policy

Montessori Family Companion (“the app”) is operated by Montessori Makers Group LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We built the app to keep as much of your family’s information on your own device as possible.

What stays on your device

Your child profiles, the observations and journal entries you write, saved playbooks, and your reading progress are stored locally on your device. Private question notes are also stored on your device. The app does not upload this content to our servers. If you choose to share a journal observation, the app opens your email app with the observation and recipient filled in. Sending that email shares the observation with your chosen recipient and email provider.

What we collect

• Email address — used to create your account and sign you in (we send a one-time code; we do not require a password unless you choose one).
• Account identifier — used to associate your sign-in with your subscription.
• Subscription records — subscription status, billing interval, subscription period dates, and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, so we can manage access. Subscriptions are purchased on our website through Stripe. The app’s checkout code does not receive or store card numbers.
• Technical and security logs — our services retain request information such as IP address, approximate city or region, browser or device software, request paths, response status, and timing. These records help operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service and may be associated with your account when you sign in.

Service providers

We use Supabase for account authentication and account/subscription records, Netlify to host the app and run its server functions, and Stripe to process website subscriptions. We use Resend to deliver account authentication emails, including password-recovery emails, through Supabase; this involves processing your email address and the email content. The current subscription service does not send subscriber-notification emails through Resend.

Service providers may also process technical information when handling requests; their logging and retention practices are described in their own privacy notices.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not show third-party advertising.
• We do not use third-party analytics or tracking to profile you across other apps or websites.

Children’s information

The app is intended for parents and caregivers, not for use by children. Child names, birthdates, and observations are stored on your device to personalize guidance and keep your journal. You can choose to share an observation by email as described above.

Your choices

When you delete your account, we close pending checkout sessions, end active subscriptions, and remove your sign-in account and active access record. We retain limited billing records to prevent duplicate billing and replay of old billing events. These records can include your account identifier, payment-provider identifiers, subscription status and dates, and audit fingerprints. While an account is active, a pending checkout request can also contain its email address; that pending request is cleared when account deletion completes. Billing audit records currently have no automatic deletion schedule.

Child profiles, journal entries, private question notes and saved playbooks are stored on your device. Successful account deletion from within the app clears the app’s local data on that device. It does not clear copies stored on your other devices. To request help or ask about retained data, contact info@montessorimakers.org.

Changes

If we update this policy, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, note them in the app.
